Newly Diagnosed? Here's Where to Turn

The best disease-specific organizations tend to do at least two of three things very well:

  1. Provide evidence-based information about a condition;
  2. Actively help patients and their caregivers via hotlines, doctor-referral services, and/or matching to appropriate clinical trials;
  3. Pursue fundraising for the research and development of treatments.

The very best organizations may even do all three. The list that follows is by no means exhaustive, but it can be a helpful starting point in your journey toward wellness. We've arranged the organizations under the realm of medicine in which the condition resides. So, for example, resources devoted to "cancer" would be found under "oncology," epilepsy is under "neurology, and so on. Be sure to check back for updates, and please let us know in the Comments section if there are important organizations we missed.
